A free bird travels through Japan: SANIMYOK Japan Tour 2025
JAPAN TOUR ARCHIVE — 2025
A seaside stage, a shop lined with records, a tiled-roof traditional house and temple grounds. In 2025, Chiang Mai band SANIMYOK toured with Eito, taking the same music into different landscapes.
After the Japanese-language release of “Free Bird” on September 5 came Zushi on September 27. In October, the “Jiyū na Tori” (“Free Bird”) Japan tour connected six venues. We begin with a photograph of the band gathered under a blue canopy in Zushi.

“Free Bird” arrives from Chiang Mai
Released on September 5, 2025, the Japanese version of “Free Bird” is a collaboration presenting SANIMYOK's song in Japanese with Eito. While the previous year's “น้ำหอม” put Eito's song into Thai, this time the Chiang Mai band's song crossed into Japanese.
In a Tourism Authority of Thailand interview, they recalled meeting at the Shambhala Festival in Chiang Dao, discussing with the members which song to sing in Japanese, and recording while looking out at Chiang Mai's natural scenery. Their creative partnership continued onto Japanese stages.
September 27 | Back on the Zushi coast
JERSEY EIGHT 2025 preceded the October tour. SANIMYOK and Eito shared the stage again in Zushi, where they had performed the year before. A blue fabric canopy, wooden floor, guitars and drums: outdoor light and instruments form the first scene of this journey.
October 1 | “Jiyū na Tori” begins in Numazu
The October tour opened at CALLE5411 in Numazu, Shizuoka. The announced lineup combined live sets by SANIMYOK, Eito and Teranova with DJs and a VJ. A night of music and visuals began the six-venue journey.
October 2 | Toyohashi EnBeach: before the show and onstage
Before the show at EnBeach in Toyohashi, a screen, drums and amplifiers stood among the shop's records. SANIMYOK and Eito were listed as the day's performers, alongside a VJ and DJs.

From the hour after 17:00 before the show to the hour after 21:00 during the performance, lighting transformed the same space. A guitarist under blue-green light captures the moment a room full of equipment became a live venue.

October 3 | Awaji Island, with a tiled roof behind the stage
The next venue was kominka.awa on Awaji Island, Hyogo. Photographs taken in the hour after 16:00 show an outdoor stage backed by a tiled-roof building, with SANIMYOK holding their instruments. From Toyohashi's record-filled interior to a space joining a house and garden, the tour's scenery changed.

October 5 | Tokushima: music meets art
At Loop hoop in Tokushima, the tour joined Tsurugi Music & Arts Festival 2025 Fall. Official information listed live performances by Eito, SANIMYOK and peach & smile, alongside music selections and a light show. The journey also connected with each area's music and art events.

October 8 | THE RAINCOAT, Juso, Osaka
The Osaka venue was THE RAINCOAT, a live music and blues bar. The official announcement names special guest TABUCHI TORU and retains the sold-out notice from the time. A Chiang Mai band and Japanese musicians shared one evening's stage.
October 12 | Nittaiji, Nagoya: beyond an audience in the rain
The final venue listed in the October announcement was Japan–Thailand Culture Festival 2025 at Kakuozan Nittaiji. Their appearance was announced for 16:45; a photograph taken at 16:48 shows the stage before the temple gate and an audience beneath umbrellas.
After the seaside, live venues and a traditional house came the temple grounds. The year's tour met a place where Thai and Japanese cultures come together.

Different cities, connected by music
From the release of “Free Bird” to Zushi and six October venues, the 2025 archive connects the song's Chiang Mai origins with Japan's varied live spaces. Listen to the recording and follow the venues in photographs to see SANIMYOK's music traveling between places.
